Supplications for when you wake up — Du'a 1

الحَمدُ للَّهِ الَّذِي أَحيَانَا بَعدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا، وَإِلَيهِ النُّشُورُ

Pronunciation

Alhamdu lillahil-lathee ahyana ba'da ma amatana wa-ilayhin-nushoor

English meaning

All praise is for Allah who gave us life after having taken it from us and unto Him is the resurrection.

Explanation (Tafseer)

For waking, this prayer begins with praise for Allah and describes awakening as life restored after a state likened to death. It closes by looking beyond the new day to resurrection and the final return to Him.
