Spreading the greetings of Salam (Peace) — Du'a 3
Approximate Arabic reading aid
Wa'an 'abdi allāhi bni 'umara raḍiya allāhu 'anhumā: anna rajulan sa'ala an-nabiyya ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam ayyu al'islāmi khayrun qāla: tuṭ'imu aṭ-ṭa'āma, wa taqra'u as-salāma 'alā man 'arafta waman lam ta'rif.
English meaning
Aabdullah Ibn Aamr reported that a man asked the Prophet : ‘Which Islam is the best?’. He replied: Feed (the poor), and greet those whom you know as well as those whom you do not.
Explanation (Tafseer)
The response identifies two outward expressions of excellent Islam: feeding people and offering salam without limiting it to acquaintances. One action meets a material need, while the other extends peace and recognition. By including both familiar and unfamiliar people, the teaching makes the circle of care broad rather than selective.
