﴿رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ﴾

Approximate Arabic reading aid

Rabbanā ātinā fī ad-dunyā ḥasanatan wafī alākhirati ḥasanatan waqinā 'adhāba an-nāri

English meaning

The Prophet PBUH used to say between the Yemeni corner and the black stone: (O our Lord, grant us the best in this life and the best in the next life, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.)

Explanation (Tafseer)

This Quranic supplication asks for good in both the present life and the Hereafter, then asks for protection from the punishment of the Fire. Its three requests form a balanced prayer: good now, good beyond this life, and safety from the final punishment named in its closing words.
