Repentance and seeking forgiveness — Du'a 2

وَقَالَ صلى الله عليه وسلم: ((يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ تُوبُوا إِلَى اللَّهِ فَإِنِّي أَتُوبُ فِي اليَومِ إِلَيهِ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ)).

Approximate Arabic reading aid

Waqāla ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam: yā ayyuhā an-nāsu tūbū ilā allāhi fa'innī atūbu fī alyawmi ilayhi mi'ata marratin.

English meaning

He also said: ‘O People, Repent! Verily I repent to Allah, a hundred times a day.

Explanation (Tafseer)

This call addresses people directly: repent and return to Allah. It is accompanied by the speaker’s own repeated repentance to Him one hundred times each day. The message therefore joins invitation with personal practice, presenting repentance as a frequent return rather than an occasional act.
