The excellence of remembering Allah — Du'a 5

وَقَالَ صلى الله عليه وسلم: ((أَيَعجِزُ أَحَدُكُم أَن يَكسِبَ كُلَّ يَومٍ أَلفَ حَسَنَةٍ)) فَسَأَلَهُ سَائِلٌ مِن جُلَسَائِهِ كَيفَ يَكسِبُ أَحَدُنَا أَلفَ حَسَنَةٍ؟ قَالَ: ((يُسَبِّحُ مِائَةَ تَسبِيحَةٍ، فَيُكتَبُ لَهُ أَلفُ حَسَنَةٍ أَو يُحَطُّ عَنهُ أَلفُ خَطِيئَةٍ)).

Waqāla ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam: aya'jizu aḥadukum an yaksiba kulla yawmin alfa ḥasanatin fasa'alahu sā'ilun min julasā'ihi kayfa yaksibu aḥadunā alfa ḥasanatin? qāla: yusabbiḥu mi'ata tasbīḥatin, fayuktabu lahu alfu ḥasanatin aw yuḥaṭṭu 'anhu alfu khaṭī'atin.

English meaning

Sa’d said: ‘We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah , and he said: ‘Are any of you unable to gain a thousand good deeds each day?’ Somebody then asked him : How does one achieve a thousand good deeds? He replied: ‘He should say: (How perfect Allah is.) one hundred times, for a thousand good deeds are recorded for him or a thousand bad deeds are wiped away.

Explanation (Tafseer)

The passage explains a daily practice of saying “Subhanallah” one hundred times. The phrase declares Allah free of every imperfection, while the stated outcome is a thousand good deeds recorded or a thousand wrongs removed. It joins repeated glorification with the specific result described in the entry.
