اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ البُخلِ، وَأَعوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الجُبنِ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِن أَن أُرَدَّ إِلَى أَرذَلِ العُمُرِ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِن فِتنَةِ الدُّنيَا وَعَذَابِ القَبرِ

Pronunciation

Allahumma innee a'oothu bika minal-bukhl, wa-a'oothu bika minal-jubn, wa-a'oothu bika min an oradda ila arthalil- 'umur, wa-a'oothu bika min fitnatid-dunya wa'athabil-qabr

English meaning

O Allah, I take refuge in You from miserliness and cowardice, I take refuge in You lest I be returned to the worst of lives “i.e. old age, being weak, incapable and in a state of fear”, and I take refuge in You from the trials and tribulations of this life and the punishment of the grave.

Explanation (Tafseer)

This prayer seeks protection from miserliness and cowardice, then from reaching a state of severely weakened old age. It ends by seeking refuge from the trials of worldly life and punishment in the grave, joining concerns about character, bodily decline, present testing, and the hereafter.
