((أَصبَحنَا وَأَصبَحَ المُلكُ لِلَّهِ ، وَالحَمدُ لِلَّهِ، لاَ إِلَهَ إلاَّ اللَّهُ وَحدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ المُلكُ وَلَهُ الحَمدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيءٍ قَدِيرٌ، رَبِّ أَسأَلُكَ خَيرَ مَا فِي هَذَا اليَومِ وَخَيرَ مَا بَعدَهُ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِن شَرِّ مَا فِي هَذَا اليَومِ وَشَرِّ مَا بَعدَهُ، رَبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الكَسَلِ وَسُوءِ الكِبَرِ، رَبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِن عَذَابٍ فِي النَّارِ وَعَذَابٍ فِي القَبرِ)). [ وإذا أمسى قال: أمسينا وأمسى الملك للَّه] [وإذا أمسى قال: رب أسألك خير ما في هذه الليلة، وخير ما بعدها، وأعوذ بك من شر ما في هذه الليلة، وشر ما بعدها.]

Aṣbaḥnā wa'aṣbaḥa almulku lillāhi, wal-ḥamdu lillāhi, lā ilāha illā allāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lahu, lahu almulku walahu alḥamdu wahuwa 'alā kulli shay'in qadīrun, rabbi as'aluka khayra mā fī hādhā alyawmi wakhayra mā ba'dahu, wa'a'ūdhu bika min sharri mā fī hādhā alyawmi washarri mā ba'dahu, rabbi a'ūdhu bika mina alkasali wasū'i alkibari, rabbi a'ūdhu bika min 'adhābin fī an-nāri wa'adhābin fī alqabri. wa idhā amsā qāla: amsaynā wa amsā al-mulku lillāh wa idhā amsā qāla: rabbi as'aluka khayra mā fī hādhihi al-laylati, wa khayra mā ba'dahā, wa a'ūdhu bika min sharri mā fī hādhihi al-laylati, wa sharri mā ba'dahā.

English meaning

‘We have reached the morning and at this very time unto Allaah, belongs all sovereignty , and all praise is for Allaah. None has the right to be worshipped except Allaah, alone, without any partner, to Him belong all sovereignty and praise and He is over all things omnipotent. My Lord, I ask You for the good of this day and the good of what follows it and I take refuge in You from the evil of this day and the evil of what follows it . My Lord, I take refuge in You from laziness and senility. My Lord, I take refuge in You from torment in the Fire and punishment in the grave.’

Explanation (Tafseer)

This morning remembrance opens by affirming that sovereignty and praise belong to Allah alone. It asks for the good of the present day and what follows, seeks protection from their evil, and adds refuge from laziness, debilitating old age, punishment in the Fire, and punishment in the grave.
