ذَهَبَ الظَّمَأُ وَابتَلَّتِ العُرُوقُ، وَثَبَتَ الأَجرُ إِن شَاءَ اللَّهُ

Pronunciation

Thahabath-thama-o wabtallatil-'urooq, wathabatal-ajru in shaal-lah

English meaning

The thirst has gone and the veins are quenched, and reward is confirmed, if Allah wills.

Explanation (Tafseer)

This statement at breaking the fast recognizes the body’s immediate change: thirst has departed and the veins are refreshed. It then expresses hope that the reward is established, qualifying that hope with “if Allah wills” and keeping physical relief connected to dependence upon Him.
