Invocation for when you see the first dates of the season

اللَّهُمَّ بَارِك لَنَا فِي ثَمَرِنَا، وَبَارِك لَنَا فِي مَدِينَتِنَا، وَبَارِك لَنَا فِي صَاعِنَا، وَبَارِك لَنَا فِي مُدِّنَا

Pronunciation

Allahumma barik lana fee thamarina, wabarik lana fee madeenatina, wabarik lana fee sa'ina wabarik lana fee muddina

English meaning

O Allah, bless our fruit for us, bless our town for us, bless our saAA for us and bless our mudd for us.)(A saAA is equivalent to four mudds and a mudd is equivalent to a dry measure of an average man’s two palms.

Explanation (Tafseer)

On seeing the season’s first dates, this prayer asks Allah to bless four connected parts of local provision: the fruit, the town, the saʿ measure, and the mudd measure. It joins the new crop with the community and the measures through which its food is shared.
