الحَمدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي عَافَانِي مِمَّا ابتَلاَكَ بِهِ، وَفَضَّلَنِي عَلَى كَثِيرٍ مِمَّن خَلَقَ تَفضِيلاً

Alhamdu lillahil-lathee 'afanee mimmab-talaka bih, wafaddalanee 'ala katheerin mimman khalaqa tafdeela

English meaning

All praise is for Allah Who saved me from that which He tested you with and Who most certainly favoured me over much of His creation.

Explanation (Tafseer)

On seeing someone tested by misfortune, this statement praises Allah for preserving the speaker from that particular trial and for granting favor over much of creation. Its focus is recognition of personal safety as Allah’s gift rather than a claim of self-sufficiency.
