Before leaving Makkah
Tawaf al-Wada (Farewell Tawaf)
Non-Makkan pilgrims perform a final tawaf of seven circuits as the last act before departing the city. No sa'i is required after it.
What to do
- Tawaf al-Wada is the last act in Makkah; nothing should be done after it except practical preparation to leave.
- A menstruating woman is exempted from this tawaf.
- Whoever leaves without it owes a sacrifice.
On leaving the Sacred Mosque
Allahumma salli 'ala Muhammad. Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlik. Allahumma 'simni min ash-shaytani-r-rajim
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad. O Allah, I ask of Your bounty. O Allah, protect me from the accursed Satan.
Dua to return — a sincere private wish
Allahumma la taj'alhu akhira l-'ahdi bi-baytika l-haram, wa-rzuqni-l-'awdata ilayhi marratin wa marrat
O Allah, do not make this the last covenant with Your Sacred House. Grant me return to it again and again.
