Madd — Elongation Rules
Madd 'Arid li-s-Sukoon المَدّ العَارِض لِلسُّكُون
A madd followed by a sukoon that arises only because the reciter stopped — 2, 4, or 6 counts.
When you pause at the end of an ayah, the last vowel becomes silent. If the second-to-last letter was a madd, that madd is held at the reader's preferred length (2, 4, or 6 counts — but be consistent within a session).
